The research carried out within ESTA Lab’ is of an applicative nature, hence the team’s strong implication in research projects. Like most applicative research teams, project financing follows two distinct trends :

Within the framework of the Solarc project partners aim to develop and test a business model for companies' local deliveries with clean vehicles, adapted to the specific conditions of reduced markets for small and medium-sized towns such as the towns in the Jurassic Arc. These companies will be federated by a Franco-Swiss overhead structure which will enable tools, strategies and experiences to be shared in order to minimize starting and working costs and also to ensure the long-term viability of the companies created. Some of the work and studies have been carried out within the teaching framework of students at ESTA and HE Arc.

The ambition of the project is to find a solution conducive to increasing building renovation. The aim can be summarized as creating a solution to share data and information on accommodation,similar to existing social networks, enabling interaction of the different operators involved.The innovative nature of this project thus consists in developing a new type of social media dedicated to rented accommodation. As far as methodology is concerned, we are seeking to identify a facette of leverage analysis which would justify investing sums in the decrease of energy for the renovation of accommodation. There is also some question of proposing solutions that would make effeicient renovation an attractive option for landlords as well as for all the actors ( for example : companies and craftsmen, institutions )

The design or reconfiguration of the city of the future, constantly developing, is a complex problem.It springs from joining together a huge quantity of heterogeneous data all interacting with one another. Once we have ascertained that the design of a complex city can be analysed, synthesized and validated, we propose to develop a metamodel in order to describe knowledge of engineering models and help in administrating these complex cities.
